While their defeat at the hands of AS Roma has been widely talked about, Barcelona have managed to stay unbeaten in the La Liga and in the process have set a brand new record. Whenever he was on the ball, he always seemed to make the right decision. In comparison, their Clasico rivals, Real Madrid, have just two outfield players with over 2000 league minutes, and neither of those players are as far over the mark as Lionel Messi.

Valencia responded well, though, Guedes seeing a low striker saved by Ter Stegen before firing a deflected effort just wide after picking up a loose ball in the Barca box. The shock exit in the Champions League to Roma on Tuesday night still framed some of the dialogue.

It was a well-orchestrated goal by Ernesto Valverde's side and the early goal settled their nerves.

"In five and a half years there has been a lot of work done here", said manager Sean Dyche.

"It was three important points really, for a lot of reasons", he told reporters at his post-match press conference.

The Catalan giants walked into the game, level with Real Sociedad's legendary side who had the previous record at 38 games between 1979 and 1980.

In the 51st minute, Umtiti made it 2-0 as he rose highest to head in Coutinho's corner.

Manuel "Nolito" Agudo made up for a missed penalty by pulling one back for Sevilla in the 78th.

"It was more important that we picked ourselves up after a difficult week and the players have showed great attitude today and stepped up".

Captain Dani Parejo pulled back a goal for third-placed Valencia by squeezing an 87th-minute penalty under Barca goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, but the Catalans withstood an exciting final spell to move to within seven points of their 25th league title.

"We have to look forward now".

Although the lack of Champions League soccer eases the schedule slightly for Barca, there's still so much to play for that the current fitness of the starting squad is concerning. He wasn't bad, like he was midweek in Rome, but he wasn't good either. This could partly be down to injury, but the French winger has been fit since February and yet has barely featured for Barcelona since returning from injury.

"Are you going to disappear into a shell for three months?"
