Kevin Gameiro scored the only goal of the game this weekend as Atletico registered just their fifth victory in 12 matches across all competitions, leaving them fourth in La Liga and six points off the pace.

Carrasco was replaced by Angel Correa with 18 minutes to go in Azerbaijan and his questionable body language was highlighted by numerous fans and pundits.

That goal came during a rare bright spell for Atleti with the visitors spending much of the game on the back foot and having to rely on goalkeeper Jan Oblak to keep Celta at bay. "But we need to combine more between us to play well and make chances".

"He's not going to participate [at Celta]", said Simeone. I am very happy with him, he is decisive in the team, very important for the future. "The team showed that it can dig in, and that it doesn't mind holding up in its area if it has to protect a result".

Despite the sparse crowd at Balaidos caused by the closure of a stand on security grounds, Celta swarmed forward after the break.

"We hope that this will free us in the face of what is coming", he said.

I'm not afraid of anything.

Atletico, without a win in their last two prior to today, got the breakthrough they craved when Gameiro fired home from close range for his first goal of the season.

Claudio Beauvue's superb solo goal gave Leganes a 1-0 win at home over Athletic Bilbao.

Both sides felt they had cause to be frustrated with referee Jose Munuera with around 25 minutes remaining - Celta's Jonny avoiding a second yellow card for a foul on Juanfran moments before Sisto's cross looked to strike Gabi's arm in the box.

Earlier, Villarreal's revival under new coach Javier Calleja continued with a 4-0 thrashing of Las Palmas.
